Abdominal Pain

Abdominal pain is a common complaint in children, often leading to visits to the emergency department (ED). It can be caused by various conditions, ranging from mild issues like constipation or gas to more serious concerns such as infections or gastrointestinal conditions. Children may experience abdominal pain differently, with younger children having difficulty describing their discomfort. Recognizing, assessing, and managing abdominal pain requires a patient- and family-centred approach to address both the physical and emotional aspects of care.
