New Bottom Line Recommendation: Pain Treatment

We have a new Bottom Line Recommendation for the treatment and management of pediatric pain in the Emergency Department (ED)! Created by Drs. Samina Ali and Amy Drendel, the Bottom Line includes a pain scale to measure the child's pain and outlines the physical, psychological, and pharmacological ways to treat pain. Updated Bottom Line Recommendations: Intussusception

Our Bottom Line Recommendation and Evidence Repository for intussusception have been updated as part of our two-year review process. Intussusception is the most common abdominal emergency of early childhood and is usually idiopathic. The vast majority of cases (80%) occur in children less than 2 years, with the most frequent age range being 5-10 months.
