Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids (TREKK) is a national network improving children’s emergency care across Canada. Through the development of evidence-based resources, education, and networking, TREKK’s vision is that every acutely ill and injured child receives the highest standard of care in Canada. Since 2011, TREKK has been made possible by the Government of Canada’s Networks of Centres of Excellence Knowledge Mobilization (KM) Initiative.
This one-day course is designed for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals working in general emergency departments seeking to improve their ability to assess and manage acute pediatric illness and injury. This event takes place at the KidSIM Centre at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
The course is comprised of approximately seven hours of small group learning, including four 45-minute high-fidelity simulation sessions led by experienced KidSIM facilitators and TREKK pediatric experts, which will follow and reinforce principles and strategies learned in didactic lectures. This is a hands-on course with a low instructor-learner ratio.
