CanadiEM Blog: TREKK Series | Multisystem Trauma
TREKK and CanadiEM have come together to translate the latest guidelines in pediatric emergency medicine. The second post in this blog series is on multisystem trauma. Join Drs. Ashley Lubberdink, Kaif Pardhan and TREKK trauma content advisor Dr. Sue Beno, as they translate the TREKK Bottom Line Recommendation and run through the case - a 10 year old boy brought into the Pediatric ED after he has been in a collision on an ATV.

CBC Radio Active Child Health Series
Lauren Albrecht, a doctoral student at the University of Alberta, has produced a seven-part radio series about child health research and resources. Under the Alberta Innovates Health Solutions Media Fellowship Program, Albrecht is working with CBC Edmonton and CBC Radio Active.
The radio series features short segments covering topics such as mental health, digital tools, and includes an interview with TREKK content adviser, Dr. Samina Ali.

Acute Procedural Pain Toolkits
The Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centers (CAPHC) has launched the CAPHC Pain Community of Practice - Acute Procedural Pain Toolkits. The Toolkits bring together evidence-based recommendations, clinical and family resources, policy examples, power point templates, videos, and articles based on the best research evidence and clinical practice.
You can choose from eight toolkits:
Assessment
Distraction
Intranasal fentanyl
Breast feeding, non-nutritive sucking, and positioning
Oral sucrose
Pain with suturing
Topical anesthetics (venipuncture)
Implementation strategies

National Sepsis Awareness Month
September is national Sepsis Awareness Month, with National Sepsis Awareness Day on September 13. See TREKKs resources for diagnosing and managing sepsis here.
