PedsPac: Sepsis

Team: TREKK PedsPacs

Date: This is not a timed event.

Description

Welcome to the TREKK Sepsis PedsPac.  *Please note: some of the materials have been updated since being first posted in April 2017*. Please see below for all the latest versions.

Led by TREKK Co-Directors Drs. Mona Jabbour (CHEO) and David Johnson (Alberta Children's Hospital), the Sepsis PedsPac is the result of a collaboration with members of the Canadian Pediatric Simulation Network, Canadian Association of Pediatric Health Centre (Sepsis Working Group), and the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale team at CAEP. Development of the Sepsis PedsPac involved a rigorous and iterative process, bringing together experts from a variety of specialties (nursing, simulation, emergency medicine, intensive care, and pharmacy). To learn more about the developers, see the References & Development Team document below.

The sepsis PedsPac is currently being used at EDs in Ontario and NWT to care for critically ill children. TREKK continues to provide training on the Sepsis PedsPac at hospital and community EDs. For more information on training and education, contact your local TREKK Site Representative.

** Please note: The vital signs pocket card is currently under review and is not available for download. If you have previously downloaded and/or printed the vital signs pocket card, please note there is a minor discrepancy on that version and it should not be used.

The Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) is presently reviewing and updating their Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) guidelines, which may include some variations in the pediatric normal range of vital signs for heart rate and respiratory rate. As soon as these new guidelines are available, the vital signs pocket card will be updated and available to download and/or print. We anticipate this to be in early 2018.
