Watch TREKK on CTV Small Wonders!

TREKK was the feature of the CTV Winnipeg Small Wonders segment on July 30th.  Parent Advisory Group member, Donald Lepp, explained the importance of knowledge in reducing stress during a visit the emergency department. The video also features Dr. Terry Klassen (TREKK Director) and Lisa Knisley (Network Manager). Watch the interview here!

Upcoming pediatric emergency conferences:

A number of pediatric emergency medicine conferences are fast approaching!

  1. In September, head to Edmonton, AB to attend the Pediatric Update Conference 2015 at the University of Alberta.
    Pediatric Update is an annual continuing medical education conference. Join faculty from the Department of Pediatrics and community colleagues to learn about the latest advances, guidelines and resources for a wide variety of practical pediatric topics.

  2. In October, SickKids' 12th Annual Paediatric Emergency Medicine Conference will be held in Toronto, ON.
    Designed for Physicians and Nurses involved in managing the sick child, this conference will provide up-to-date management of common paediatric emergencies.
    Dates: October 1-2, 2015
     
  3. The Kids Rock Janeway Emergency Pediatric Conference will be held in October in St. John's Newfoundland.
    Registration deadline is September 6, 2015. Click here for more information about the Kids Rock Conference.
    Dates: October 2-4, 2015

  4. In November, the Prairie Annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Assembly will take place in Winnipeg, MB.
    Prairie APEMA was designed to provide a dynamic learning experience for health care professionals who provide acute care to infants, children and adolescents. See how APEMA and TREKK are working together

Welcome to TREKK

TREKK would like to welcome their two newest members: 

Congratulations to Carly Leggett and her husband, who welcomed Dominic David Curtin into this world on July 31st, weighing in at 7lbs, 4 ozs and 20.5 inches long! Everyone is happy, healthy and settling in well.  

Welcome to Leah Crockett, who will be taking over as Knowledge Broker for TREKK while Carly is on maternity leave. Leah previously worked at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy for the PATHS Equity for Children project, a program of research into what works to reduce the health and well-being gaps for children in Manitoba. She is also in the final stages of submitting and defending her master's thesis in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba in the area of child health.
